DAMATURU – The North East Youth Initiative For Development (NEYIF) joins the global community today in celebrating World Population Day, a day set aside to raise awareness about population growth and its impact on our planet.
The theme for this year is; “Empowering Youth for a Sustainable Future.”
The day which is celebrated on the 11th July of every year is aimed to raise awareness about global population issues and their impact on society.

In an interview with the Executive Director of the organization, Comrade Dauda Muhammad Gombe with the communications unit, he stated that NEYIF as an organization is dedicated to youth empowerment and community development, the organization is committed to addressing the issues attached to population growth and its effect on sustainable development, environment, and resource management.

“On this World Population Day, we emphasize the need for comprehensive action to address the challenges posed by population growth, we must work together to ensure access to education, family planning, healthcare, and youth empowerment, especially for the most vulnerably affected communities.”
NEYIF reaffirms its commitment to supporting initiatives that promote sustainable development, youth empowerment, and community well-being. “Let me on this note place a call to governments, civil society organizations, and individuals to join forces in addressing the complex issues surrounding population growth’’.
Our commitment to bringing sustainable development to the population is a project being supported and implemented by The Civil Society Legislative Advocacy Centre (CISLAC) and Transparency International (TI) on Population Matters.
Ahead of the next National Census scheduled to be held in November, NEYIF alongside CISLAC and other civil society organizations would work round the clock to ensure that citizens are mobilized and well captured in Yobe State.
Additionally, NEYIF also plans to sensitize and raise awareness on the importance of the NPC Census through radio and social media ahead of the forthcoming National Census.
