ABUJA – The Chairman/CEO, Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, hasv expressed gratitude to Hon Nathan Cooper, Speaker of the Alberta Legislature, for recognising and appreciating the Nigerian Community’s progressive impact in Alberta in particular and Canada in general.
Mrs Dabiri-Erewa praised the Nigerian community for their contributions to Alberta, noting how they have become good ambassadors of Nigeria,
“The Nigerian community in Alberta has shown that beyond numbers, they are progressive, hardworking, and contribute significantly to the province’s growth.”

A statement by Gabriel Odu, Media, Public Relations and Protocols Unit of NIDCOM on Wednesday said that she encouraged Cooper to visit Nigeria, highlighting the importance of fostering closer ties between both regions,
“Nigeria is full of opportunities and possibilities. I invite you to experience the real Nigeria, a country with resilience, rich culture, and immense economic potential”.

The NIDCOM Boss also urged Nigerians in Alberta to invest in their homeland, reinforcing the need for stronger economic partnerships between Nigeria and its diaspora, “By investing back home, we build bridges that foster growth and prosperity for both Nigeria and its diaspora.”
Cooper , who also took the delegation round a tour of the Parliament, highlighted the importance of the partnership, stating that the relationship between Alberta and the Nigerian community is fundamental to the province’s values and future development.
Hon Nathan Cooper, Speaker of Alberta Legislature, echoed his appreciation for the Nigerian community, emphasising Alberta’s shared values of family, hard work, and compassion. He noted that Nigerians play essential roles in education, social work, and legal services, adding, “Nigerian leadership in various sectors across Alberta showcases their good nature and strengthens the bond between our jurisdictions.”
