    MINNA – Niger Tornadoes football club of Minna, on Sunday ended the teams third outing since the return of the club to base in 1-1 draw with visiting Lobi Stars of Makurdi, Benue state.

    Though it dominated the first with impressive performance with many chances but could not impress the fans as it ended the first half goalless.

    Lobi Star’s Ossy Martins scored for his team in the second half after beating the offside trap of Niger Tornadoes, and minutes later an equalizer came from host team’s, Ifeanyi Okoye.

    Meanwhile, the Technical Advisers to Lobi Stars and Niger Tornadoes, Daniel Amokachi and Mohammed Majin in their respective comments expressed satisfaction with the officiating of the match.

    Majin expressed sadness that his team had the opportunity to win the match but could not convert the many chances to goals.

    While appealing to fans not to feel disappointed with the outcome of the match, Majin however said, “A point is better than none like I’ve always said. Because Lobi Stars are at the bottom side of the table does not mean they are not a good side, they are parading experience players”.

    “We played very well especially in the first half, we had our chances but we couldn’t convert them, at this point I am short of words about that, because we held training sessions on goal scoring but translating in practical terms has always been the problem, but we will continue to work until we get it right, especially at home”.

    Niger Tornadoes has played three home matches in the NPFL since its return to base but could impress fans by winning any.

    Niger Tornadoes first encounter was with Nasarawa United which ended in goaless draw, while Bendel Insurance and Lobi Stars also held the team to 1-1 draw.
