The Terrorist Logistics Base at Yadi Forest in the Giwa Local Government Area of Kaduna State was destroyed, according to the Nigerian Air Force (NAF), as part of Operation Whirl Punch (OPWP).
This was said in a statement made on Monday in Abuja by Group Capt. Kabiru Ali, the Deputy Director of Public Relations and Information for the NAF.
According to Mr. Ali, the operation was carried out in response to reliable information showing a significant terrorist presence in the Yadi Forest, along with their weapons .
He claimed that thorough information, reconnaissance, and surveillance had established the regular presence of terrorists and their motorcycles at the site.
He claimed that further information showed the logistics base belonged to Dogo Gide’s close associate and notorious terrorist mastermind Kadade Gurgu.
He continued by saying that after the forceful military operations in Sokoto and Zamfara States, Kadage Gurgu had been giving sanctuary to notorious terrorist kingpins. This information was made known to the NAF.

Mr. Ali said the air component launched an aircraft attack on the target with the assistance of an intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (SR) platform.
He claimed that although the target location looked empty at first, as the aircraft got closer, several of the terrorists could be seen escaping the area by rushing out from under the bushes.
“Subsequently, the target were engaged recording successful hits on the logistics facility, which was engulfed in flames with thick black smoke seen.
“Reports from independent sources, including local informants around the general area, later confirmed that the logistics base was totally destroyed and scores of terrorists were killed as a result of the attack.
“The NAF, in collaboration with surface forces, will continue to dominate the battlespace through extensive situational awareness, constant patrols, and targeted interdiction of bandits’ safe havens within its area of responsibility and neighbouring states.
“This aims to decimate and flush out terrorism and criminal activities within the Northwest and North Central region,” he said.
