Nigeria’s SubseaRobotix, in collaboration with TSC Subsea, has taken steps to transform subsea engineering inspections in Nigeria through the deployment of advanced robotic solutions.
Mr. Jonathan Bancroft and Mr. Michel Bezemer, the Global Sales Director and the Marketing Manager for Europe and Africa respectively, of TSC Subsea, a global leader in ROV-deployed robotic underwater inspection technology, visited Lagos recently to meet with their Nigerian partners, SubseaRobotix.
While explaining the rationale behind the visit and the partnership, Dr. Bello Salihu, the Chief Technology Officer of SubseaRobotix, Nigeria, who received the TSC Subsea team in Lagos along with Mr. Wale Olagundoye, the Sales Director of SubseaRobotix, stated in a statement at the weekend, that the partnership with TSC Subsea aims to provide solutions for their Nigerian clients who have subsea and deepwater engineering assets beyond the reach of divers and require robotic technology for inspection.
Salihu, a fellow of the British Institute of Non-Destructive Testing and a veteran of subsea asset integrity campaigns worldwide, said, “Our partnership with TSC Subsea avails our clients in Nigeria of ROV-developed robotic Advanced Non-Destructive Testing (ANDT) solutions for the integrity inspection of subsea engineering assets.”
The head of the visiting team, TSC Subsea’s Global Director of Sales, Jonathan Bancroft, emphasized the strategic importance of Nigeria to TSC Subsea and the alignment of their solutions with the increasing demand for robotic inspections in West Africa.
According to him, the partnership provides Nigerian clients with Remote Operated Vehicle (ROV) deployed Advanced Non-Destructive Testing (ANDT) solutions for the integrity inspection of subsea assets. He further noted, “A huge thank you to our hosts and partners at SubseaRobotix for a great week of customer visits and good company. Nigeria is an important strategic region for TSC Subsea, and with the uptick in subsea robotic inspection in West Africa, our solutions are a perfect fit. We look forward to a long and rewarding partnership.
“The challenges faced by oil and gas operators, especially those with deepwater operations, necessitate driverless solutions and non-human intervention. Our robotic solutions and TSC Subsea’s proprietary technologies are designed to address these challenges efficiently,” he said.
Highlighting the future prospects of the collaboration, Mr. Wale Olagundoye, Director of Sales at SubseaRobotix, expressed satisfaction with the outcomes of the various meetings held during TSC Subsea’s visit. Olagundoye stressed, “We are very happy with the outcomes of the various meetings held with our potential clients when we received our partners, TSC Subsea, in Nigeria. The action-packed week with back-to-back meetings with the operators was better than we anticipated. At SubseaRobotix, making a difference in the subsea inspection space in Nigeria is our primary focus, and it is great having TSC Subsea, an accomplished global player in this sector, in our corner,” he added.
Mr. Michel Bezemer, Marketing Manager for Europe and Africa at TSC Subsea pointed out that the benefits of face-to-face meetings with local asset owners in Nigeria were a strategic move to improve their presence in Africa. “Visiting the local asset owners in Nigeria gave us the opportunity to discuss in detail their inspection challenges and the solutions TSC Subsea have in their services portfolio to strategically solve them,” Bezemer stressed, adding, “It is always a great opportunity to have open discussions during face-to-face meetings and solve a challenge on-the-spot with our bespoke Subsea robotic ANDT offerings. The extreme challenges of deep and ultra-deep assets in West Africa are the perfect fit for the TSC Subsea and SubseaRobotix partnership.”
Our correspondent reports that through the partnership, SubseaRobotix and TSC Subsea are poised to significantly enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of subsea inspections in Nigeria, ensuring safer and more reliable operations for the oil and gas industry.
