Deji Ayeni, chief coach of Ekiti United has expressed hope of remaining in the lower Nigerian National League, NNL, after his team had the better of Coal City Football Club of Enugu on Monday.
Ekiti United defeated hard fighting and technically savvy Coal City by a lone goal in the first half.
The club made the winning in Ilorin where they play their home matches away from Ado Ekiti, Ekiti state capital where the stadium is undergoing reconstruction.
“Today’s winning is not just a winning, but a fantastic one.
“It improves our odds of remaining in the NNL.
“Actually the team hasn’t been doing well in the last few games.
“Every game is important to us so we have to take it one at time,” Ayeni said.
Ayeni came on board recently after Ekiti United dissolved the team’s technical crew.
No fewer than thirteen out of the thirty eight players of the team were also disengaged due to the poor run and performance of the team in the ongoing NNL.
