    Super Eagles player, Victor Bonifice, has lamented the situation of Nigeria’s football team in Libya, saying they had no food, Wi-Fi and sleep.

    Daily Trust had reported how the Nigerian aircraft conveying Super Eagles players was diverted to AI Abraq, an hour to landing at their destination in Benghazi.

    Although the Super Eagles had departed for Libya since Sunday afternoon, the team was stranded at AI Abraq Airport more than 12 hours after landing in the country, a situation the players have lamented, threatening not to take part in the 2025 AFCON qualifier against their host, Libya.

    Lamenting the situation on Monday via his X handle, Super Eagles striker, Bonifice wrote, “Been at the airport for almost 13 hours no food no wifi no where to sleep . African we can do better @caf.” said they had been stranded at the airport for almost 13 hours, with no food, Wi-Fi and sleep.”

    Meanwhile, the Federal Government has said it is currently in touch with the Nigerian Mission in Libya concerning the state of the Super Eagles.

    Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yusuf Tuggar, in a post via X, said, “I have been closely monitoring the situation involving the Super Eagles in Libya. Through the Head of Nigerian Mission in Tripoli, Libya, Amb. Stephen Anthony Awuru, the Mission has maintained contact with the NFF, and the Libyan authorities since last night. Despite efforts, Libyan authorities have not yet authorized the Nigerian Mission’s trip to Bayda City, where the airport is located.”
