Arsenal’s bid to break 20-year-old Premier League jinx hit the rock on Sunday as they failed to win the title as Manchester City won a fourth title in a row.

Arsenal fought back to defeat Everton 2-1 at the Emirates Stadium but the match at the Etihad Stadium did not favour them as City hammered West Ham to lift the trophy in style.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin could have opened the scoring for Everton in the 32nd minute of the match but was unlucky. He picked up an accurate pass inside the box and unleashed a shot goalwards that smashed against the left post.

But Everton shockingly took the lead at the Emirates in the 40th minute of the match from a free kick. The free-kick was fired in by Idrissa Gueye and the ball inadvertently flicked off a defender and spin into the net, leaving David Raya stranded.

The Gunners levelled three minutes later. Martin Odegaard played a lovely pass into the box and found Takehiro Tomiyasu. He tried his luck from close range and coolly struck the ball into the back of the net.

In the 83rd minute, Emile Smith Rowe took a nice first touch to control a cross and shot at goal from near the penalty spot, but his effort only hit the bar.

Kai Havertz scored the second goal for Arsenal one to the end of the match. He had the simplest of tasks to roll the ball into an empty net from close range after a rebound left the keeper stranded.
