JOS – A chieftain and member of the support All Progressive Congress (APC) groups coordination (North Central) for the Tinubu /Shettima Presidential Campaign Council (PCC), Nanfwang Dachi Gunat, has reiterated the need to bring back the National Chairmanship position of the party to the North Central region.

Gunat who spoke to newsmen in Jos the Plateau State capital yesterday expressed fears that the North Central is already united on this demand, and that anything contrary to that will not augur well for the party in the region.

The party chieftain said as a grassroots politician and mobilizer himself and someone who has also served as a member of the presidential campaign council of the APC he can feel the pulse of the people of the region, and authoritatively
tell that the North Central are not willing to lose that position to anyone.

He said why the region is insisting that the chairmanship of the party remains in the north central as the zoning arrangement clearly stated is so that the people of the region will not feel marginalized in the party structure.

According to him, after the resignation of Abdullahi Adamu (who is from the North Central) as the National Chairman, the best thing to do was to replace him with someone from the region.

“But rather, Abdullahi Adamu was replaced with Abdullahi Ganduje from the North West region, and since that replacement, the North Central people have been feeling marginalized within the party and expressing their displeasure.

“So, for the sake of equity, the position should revert back to the region so that the party will remain intact in the region, and it will be easy to convince the members to remain committed to the party and not make any political decisions against the interest of the party,” he said.

Gunat said for the fact that many party chieftains from the North Central are speaking in one voice for the return of the Chairmanship position of the party to the region shows their firm resolve on the issue, and if that is not done it can have an adverse effect on the party in the region.

He added that retaining Ganduje in that position will only bring disunity to the party to the party, and that it is not good for the progress of the party, particularly towards the 2027 general elections.
