    DAMATURU – The Chairman of National Population Commission (NPC), Nasir Isa Kwarra today led a delegation on a sympathy visit to Shehu of Borno, Dr. Abubakar Umar-Ibn Garbai Al-Amin Elkanemi at his palace in Maiduguri, following the recent severe floods that submerged the palace and many areas across Maiduguri.

    During the visit, Kwarra commended the Shehu of Borno for his remarkable resilience in the face of disaster, noting that the Shehu’s decision to remain in his palace despite the flood inspired the affected victims.

    He highlighted Shehu’s pivotal role in encouraging the people of Borno to face the calamity with courage.

    NPC Chairman expressed sympathy for those who lost their lives and properties during the flooding disaster. He offered prayers for the victims, praying that such a disaster would not befall the region again.

    In response, the Shehu of Borno appreciated the visit and acknowledged the widespread devastation caused by the floods, including the destruction of critical infrastructure like hospitals, markets, schools, and roads.

    Kwarra was joined by key NPC Officials during the visit, including Federal Commissioner, Borno State, Barr. Isa Audu Buratai, Federal Commissioner, Kaduna State, Hajia Sa’adatu Garba Dogonbauchi, Federal Commissioner, Akwa Ibom State, Chief Engr. Benedict Ukpong, Census Manager, Dr. Inuwa Jalingo, Director of General Service, Mr. Abdulkareem Bello, Director of Cartography, Joachin Ulasi, Director of Human Resources Management, Hajia Rabi Sallau Bala-Ribah, Director of Population Studies, Hajia Aisha Abdulazeez Adamu, Director of Account, Hajia Zainab Agbeje and the SA to the Chairman, Isiyaku Alhaji Husaini.

    However, this visit follows Kwarra’s earlier sympathy visit to the Executive Governor of Borno State, Prof. Babagana Umara Zulum, and an inspection visit to the NPC Borno State Office to assess the flood’s impact.
