The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence, NSCDC, in the FCT Command, has arrested five individuals for reportedly vandalizing crucial national assets and infrastructure.

The spokesperson for the command, Samuel Idoko, made this known in a statement on Wednesday in Abuja, stating that two of the five suspects were apprehended around Wuse Market Bridge while transporting vandalized iron poles.

Idoko also mentioned that the remaining three suspects were caught around Durumi 2 Pantaker Market at midnight while trying to move the vandalized items to a selling location.

He mentioned that upon further investigation, it was discovered that purchasers frequented the site of the arrest during unusual hours with trucks to purchase the goods and transport them to undisclosed places.

According to him, an ongoing investigation is in progress to guarantee that justice is served and those responsible for these atrocious acts are brought to justice.

“Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects are part of a syndicate and are always in possession of items suspected to have been vandalised or stolen.

“Exhibits recovered from the suspects include two solar batteries, one gas cylinder, one generator set, one refrigerator gas cylinder, one iron hammer, and an air conditioner gas pipe, among other items,” he said.

“They will be made to face the full wrath of the law as the NSCDC, FCT Command and the corps at large have zero tolerance for vandalism,” he said.
