Retired Executive Secretary of the National Universities Commission, Prof. Abdulrasheed Abubakar, handed over on Friday to the Deputy Executive Secretary of the Commission, Chris Maiyaki.
reports that the handing-over ceremony took place on Friday at the headquarters of the Commission.
Prof. Abubakar, who voluntarily stepped down from the Commission as Executive Secretary on Tuesday, said he was heading back to Bayero University, Kano to continue his career in lecturing.
Although no reason was given for his resignation, he had up to three years until the expiration of his second tenure on the commission.
The former NUC boss is expected to resume his new appointment as a classroom teacher at Bayero University Kano, effective June 1, 2023.
Maiyaki, while giving his acceptance speech, described Prof. Abubakar as a trailblazer in university education and wished him well in his future endeavours.
