    The Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ Ebonyi State Chapter, has lauded Governor Francis Nwifuru revitalizing the State’s owned Broadcast Station, Ebonyi Broadcasting Corporation (EBBC), Abakaliki.

    The State Chairman of NUJ, Comrade Samson Nwafor, made the commendation when the members of the 2024 NUJ Press Week Planning Committee paid a courtesy visit to the EBBC Director-General, Comrade Tony Nwizi, on Monday.

    Nwafor noted that Governor Nwifuru had in many ways, demonstrated his love for the Media, saying his administration’s decision to overhaul the state-owned radio and television stations was commendable.

    He further commended the Governor for appointing Comrade Nwizi, the immediate past Chairman of NUJ in the State as the Director General of the Corporation.

    The State NUJ boss expressed optimism that Comrade Nwizi had the leadership ingenuity to return the EBBC to its lost glory, considering positive turn-around being witnessed in the Corporation under his leadership.

    Nwafor corroborated the remarks by the Chairman of the 2024 NUJ Press Week Planning Committee, Comrade Amaechi Odo, who had earlier explained that the visit was to seek the partnership and support of the DG and the Management of EBBC towards the success of the activities marking the 2024 Press Week, whose grand finale is slated for 3rd October 2024.

    Responding, the EBBC DG described Press Week eek as a familiar terrain, having served as a former Chairman of the Union and pledged the support of the Management of EBBC.

    He affirmed that Governor Francis Nwifuru has showcased his love for the media by approving a total overhaul of the EBBC.

    “His Excellency, the Governor showcased his love for the media by approving a total overhaul of the EBBC.

    “We have secured new digital equipment and there’s no need to go off again. I thank God and His Excellency for living up to his words. Before the first of October, our TV will be on, 24 hours.

    “There are a lot of good things coming to the state, and in less than two years, his Excellency’s numerous life-touching projects will be commissioned in all parts of the state.

    “I want to commend the governor for having been media-friendly since he came on board. We are just praying God to continue to strengthen him with more wisdom, grace and good health to continue delivering quality services to Ebonyi people,” Nwizi said.
