    ABAKALIKI – Governor of Ebonyi State, Chief Francis Nwifuru has appointed six new principal officers for the two newly established universities in the state.

    This was even as the Governor has approved the release of N9bn to take care of the foreign scholarship programme of his administration.

    The Governor had announced Vice Chancellors of the universities last month.

    The announcement of the more principal officers was part of the decision of the State Executive Council meeting held Friday.

    Commissioner for Information and State Orientation, Jude Okpor disclosed while briefing Journalists on the outcome of the State Executive Council meeting.

    Okpor said: “to ensure convenience and ease of relocation of employees and unimpeded academic engagements of their wards and for the benefit of the host communities of the ICT University and University of Aerospace Engineering respectively, the Council approved the establishment of secondary schools in the two universities and the take-over of the existing primary schools in their environs.

    “On the recruitment of management staff in the two universities, the Council after consideration of the nominees presented before it, approved the appointment of the following in acting capacities:

    “Mrs. Ugochinyere Mba Uka as Registrar, University of Aerospace Engineering, Ezza, Dr Chukwu Eze-Obia as Registrar, ICT University, Oferekpe, Izzi, Mr. John Onwe — Bursar, University of Aerospace Engineering, Ezza, Dr Louis Chinedu Nkwegu — Bursar, ICT University, Oferekpe, Izzi, Dr. Victor Onyebuchi Igwe — Librarian, ICT University, Oferekpe, Izzi and Mrs Paulina Nneka Okeye — Librarian, University of Aerospace Engineering, Ezza”

    He noted that in consummation of the processes for the implementation of the foreign scholarship programme of the state government, the council approved the release of about Nine Billion Naira (N9bn) covering tuition, accommodation and feeding allowances for the successful candidates.

    “The Council further stressed the need for the privileged beneficiaries to attach utmost importance to this government’s gesture bearing in mind that they are highly indebted to the state.

    Consequently, all the beneficiaries are required to enter into a bond with the State Government to return to the state at the completion of their studies to contribute their quota in the development of the state”, Okpor said.
