Director General, National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brigadier General YD Ahmed, has pleaded with corps members to accept their postings to serve at different communities and various places of primary assignments in good faith.
General Ahmed equally begged them to adjust quickly and settle down to the task of nation building and development in their respective places of primary Assignment.
A statement by Caroline Embu, Acting Director, Information and Public Relations, disclosed that the DG also told them that their impactful contributions to the development of their host communities would perpetuate the continued relevance of the scheme.
The NYSC boss made the appeal on Tuesday in his remarks at the closing ceremony of the 2024 Batch ‘B’ Stream II Orientation Course at the Magaji Dan Yamusa NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp in Keffi, Nasarawa State.
While assuring the corps members that his administration places high premium on their security and welfare, the DG charged them to do their own part in safe-guarding themselves by adhering to basic security measures.
He said: “Accept your postings in good faith and resist the temptation to seek reposting. Begin to make meaningful impact as you have been trained to do. Focus on making positive contributions in your host communities and serve as exemplary ambassadors of your families, the NYSC and the nation at large.”
He strongly advised them against embarking on any youthful adventure that could expose them to danger.
The NYSC Chief Executive Officer added that all corps members are expected to offer selfless services as patriotic citizens and models to the teaming youths of Nigeria during the service year, adding: “As you embark on your one year national service, l urge you to approach it with humility and a spirit of selflessness”, General Ahmed added.
