The Ogun State Independent Electoral Commission (OGSIEC) has announced that the list of candidates who successfully passed the screening process will be published on Monday, October 14, 2024. The announcement was made by the Commission’s Chairman, Mr. Babatunde Osibodu, during the recently concluded screening exercise held at the OGSIEC headquarters in Oke-Ilewo, Abeokuta.
Mr. Osibodu expressed satisfaction with how the screening was conducted, noting that the process was organized according to the state’s three senatorial districts. This arrangement, he explained, was intended to make the verification smoother and ensure candidates could return home quickly.
He reassured political parties of a fair and transparent process, urging them to trust the system. “I’ve said it many times—trust the process. By the end of this, everyone will see that we have been fair,” Osibodu emphasized.

Some candidates who participated in the screening commended the Commission for its professionalism. Among them were Mr. Azeez Balogun from Abeokuta South, Mr. Babatunde Diya from Odogbolu, and Mr. Theophilus Olorode from Imeko Afon Local Government. They all praised OGSIEC for being well-prepared and for conducting the screening in an orderly manner.
In addition, one of the OGSIEC commissioners, Mr. Tunji Akoni, urged candidates to connect with voters at the grassroots level and ensure their campaigns reach the people. He reaffirmed the Commission’s commitment to conducting free, fair, and credible elections.
Another Commissioner, Mrs. Gbemi Onasanya, emphasized the importance of political parties appointing reliable and loyal agents to safeguard their votes on election day.
