Enyimba Head Coach Yemi ‘Yema’ Olanrewaju has expressed optimism of a positive result in the league opener against Heartland FC in Owerri on Sunday, BSNSports.com.ng reports. The People’s Elephants will face the Naze Millionaires at the Dan Anyiam Stadium in Owerri on Sunday, with kickoff scheduled for 4:00 pm.
Speaking to the media, Yema said, “I can say we are ready and we have no excuse now. The squad has been working tirelessly to integrate new signings into the team. The integration has been going well, and it’s time to translate it to results. We are eager to make a strong impression in the league, and we know that Heartland FC, led by Coach Emmanuel Amunike, will pose a formidable challenge.”
Olanrewaju acknowledged the opposition’s desire for a winning start, saying, “Coach Amunike would want to start on a good note too in the league.
But we are determined to give it our all and start very well, hoping for a positive result in Owerri.”
The match against Heartland FC will be the latest installment of the Oriental Derby, a rivalry that has produced many thrilling encounters over the years. The last time the two teams met was in November 2023, when Stephen Chukwude scored the winner for Enyimba FC in a closely contested match.
