Manchester United’s season plunged deeper into crisis as Newcastle United delivered a ruthless 2-0 defeat at Old Trafford on Monday night.
The loss, marked by defensive frailties and missed opportunities, left the Red Devils reeling and their fans fuming.
From the opening whistle, Newcastle imposed their will on the game. It took just four minutes for Alexander Isak to break the deadlock with a well-placed header, nodding in Lewis Hall’s precise lofted pass.
The goal was briefly reviewed by VAR for potential offside but stood, setting the tone for a night of agony for United.
The visitors doubled their lead in the 19th minute with a clinical strike by Joelinton. Anthony Gordon’s inch-perfect cross found Joelinton unmarked, and the Brazilian made no mistake, heading past Andre Onana to silence the home crowd.
Despite spells of possession, United lacked the cutting edge to capitalise. Rasmus Højlund came close to pulling one back in the 34th minute, but his shot veered just wide of the post. Casemiro and Harry Maguire also squandered golden chances, leaving fans clutching their heads in frustration.

Newcastle, orchestrated brilliantly by Eddie Howe, slowed the game’s tempo in the second half, frustrating their hosts with sharp passing and disciplined defending.
United’s attempts to mount a comeback were thwarted by overhit crosses and poor decision-making in the final third.
The introduction of substitutes Alejandro Garnacho, Kobbie Mainoo, and Amad Diallo did little to inspire a turnaround. Antony’s late solo effort epitomised United’s night: a run filled with promise but ultimately snuffed out by Newcastle’s resolute defence.
The defeat marks United’s fifth league loss of the season, raising questions about the team’s direction under Ruben Amorim.
With fans beginning to lose faith, the pressure is mounting on the Red Devils to find solutions before their campaign spirals further out of control.
