OSUN State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, yesterday, commissioned the Osun Drivers and Vehicle Testing Service in Osogbo, marking a significant milestone in the state’s transportation sector.
The governor, while declaring the centre open in Ayepe, said: “This is an historic continuation of our focus on the continuous and all-round development of every sector of Osun State.
“The transportation sector is not left out, as it is a very sensitive one that deals with human lives and must not be handled with kid gloves.
“This unit will ensure that only roadworthy vehicles ply our roads, and only qualified drivers operate on our roads. Through this unit, we will also ensure that our motorcycle riders are not infiltrated by criminals.
“As we commission this project today, we are taking a significant step towards ensuring the safety of our roads and the lives of our citizens.
“I am proud of this achievement and I commend the team that has worked tirelessly to make this a reality.”
Also speaking at the event, Segun Ochuko Obayendo, praised the governor’s “giant strides” which have created an enabling environment in the state, making the project possible.
The two-lane service centre, capable of inspecting 150 vehicles per day, is a testament to the state’s commitment to road safety and development.
