The Resident Electoral Commissioner for the Independent National Electoral Commission in Osun State, Dr. Mutiu Agboke, on Saturday said the commission has received a total of 5306 Bimodal Voter Accreditation System for use during the 2023 elections.
Agboke, who spoke during an INEC awareness campaign held in Osogbo, organised in collaboration with Power Of PVC Ride, a non-governmental organisation, to create awareness for the collection of Permanent Voters Cards in the state, also said the commission had commenced training of its staff ahead of the poll.
He said, “We have received 5, 306 BVAS, we are ready, we are charging, configurating, training our staff and partnering with stakeholders day in, day out and we have always been engaging our stakeholders.”
He called on the people of the state to collect their PVCs to enable them participate in the coming elections.
He said, “So there’s need for us to scale up the level of awareness to go and collect PVCs. For example when I resumed in Osun, we had 408,197 PVCs and between December 12 and 17, only 1,032 electorates have gone to collect their cards.
“As I speak to you now, we have 407,165, if we have over 400,000 PVCs and only 1,000 have gone to collect, it means we have not done anything. It means people have not really come out. So first thing we have to do is to scale up our level of awareness.”
