With 10 days to the November 16 governorship election in Ondo State, the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, says the commission has never been this prepared, and they are fully ready for the exercise.
It further stated that before the election, governorship candidates, political parties, media, observers, and security services, among others, will review sensitive items.
While confirming that sensitive materials will arrive in the state on Tuesday, the electoral body’s Chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu guaranteed that the poll would run smoothly.
The INEC chairman revealed this while on a visit to the commission’s council offices in the state.
He emphasized that the materials will be inspected by major stakeholders on Wednesday before being delivered to the local government areas on Thursday.
“The level of preparedness is very impressive. Very rarely will you find the commission this prepared before election.
“That is why I’ve been going around LGAs to see if they have everything they are supposed to have at this point. The only thing remaining is the sensitive materials which will arrive on Tuesday next week.
“On Wednesday, there will be inspection of the sensitive materials by all parties, candidates, observers, security agencies, media houses, personnel of the commission, among others,” he said.
