The Chief Operating Officer of the Fatgbems Group, Ayodele Odulaja, says the next step for the company is to support initiatives geared towards developing the body and mind.
Odulaja made this known while speaking with journalists in Abeokuta during the Lotus Bank 10km race on Saturday.
He acknowledged the contributions of sports to promote unity and peaceful coexistence and said there was a need to develop other sports apart from football.
Odulaja described the development of sports as a collective venture, restating the determination of the company to ensure that sports received the utmost attention.
According to him, Fatgbems is not just involved in petroleum products marketing but also logistics, i.e. movement of goods around the country.
Mr Odulaja pointed out that the company was also diversifying into agriculture, especially the processing of cashews, which he noted would not only contribute to the nation’s economy but also a way to build capacity for the country.
He added that the company would partner with associations such as SWAN to promote sports at the grassroots.
“Recently in Paris, our guys were not able to win any medal unfortunately, but we have looked inward and feel that something has to be done about it.
“Sports is a collective development that needs sponsors that is why you see the likes of Fatgbems and other sponsors and we are ready to explore sporting activities,” Odulaja said.
