Engr Conrad Utaan, the National chairmanship candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), has declared that on the occasion of the celebration of the 64th Independence anniversary, his thoughts were with ordinary Nigerians who were daily confronted with social and physical insecurity that has threatens their very existence.
In a statement made available to newsmen in Makurdi on Tuesday and signed by the spokesperson, for Engr. Utaan for PDP National Chairmanship Campaign – 2024, Chief Bemgba Iortyom, also noted that he was in a sober state on this occasion due to the extreme hardship that has weighed down the people.
While Utaan prayed that God would turn the hearts of the nation’s leadership in the direction of righteousness, he expressed his resolve to press on with his quest to be given the mandate to serve PDP and believes that in the capacity of National Chairman, he would bring fresh energy and new thinking to bear on the direction of leadership of the nation.
Chief Iortyom said, “October 1st, according to Engr. Utaan is symbolic of the day our beloved country, Nigeria, officially secured the right to self-determination and self-rule from British colonialists, and as has been the custom, the day is ceremonially marked yearly.

“He is, however, in deep sobriety on this particular anniversary as he acknowledges the yoke of extreme hardship and privation weighing down mercilessly on the increasingly weakening shoulders of ordinary Nigerians.
“His deepest thoughts, he says, are with ordinary Nigerians who daily face social and physical insecurity of existential proportion, praying that God Almighty will turn the hearts of the rulers of the country in the direction of righteous leadership.
“Engr. Utaan expresses a resolve, hardened more than ever before, to press on in his quest to be given the mandate to serve PDP as National Chairman, as he believes in that capacity, he will bring “Fresh Energy and New Thinking” to bear on the direction of the leadership of Nigeria.
“The good and overall well-being of the common man on the streets and in the villages of Nigeria remains the pulse of his heartbeat, he says, even as he professes deep faith that better days are ahead for our beloved country, Nigeria.
“He urges Nigerians to keep faith with Nigeria, and pray to God Almighty for their leaders even in the thick of the gloom hanging over the country’s horizon, as, in his words, “it is still in the power of God Almighty to raise leaders who will turn around our collective fortunes as a people”, Iortyom stated.
