The campaign council of Sir Paul Chukwuma, a leading aspirant in the upcoming November 2025 Anambra governorship election, has pledged to reinvigorate the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state, focusing on party revitalisation and grassroots mobilisation. The announcement was made during a press conference held yesterday, September 19, 2024, in Awka by the Director-General of the council, Hon. Ifeanyi Ibezi, (Ochiagha Idemili).

Hon. Ibezi described the Chukwuma Campaign Council as a coalition of high-profile Anambra APC members and notable figures from other political backgrounds who have been drawn to the party due to Sir Paul Chukwuma’s leadership and intellectual capabilities. According to Ibezi, the council, in collaboration with the state party leadership, is committed to rejuvenating the APC from the grassroots by strengthening structures at the local government, ward and cluster levels.

“With Sir Paul Chukwuma’s vision, we are for now focused on stakeholder and party faithful engagement,” Ibezi said. He further outlined Chukwuma’s blueprint for Anambra, which revolves around the “HIS” mantra – Human Capital Development, Infrastructure, and Security – stressing that these pillars are critical to the state’s transformation.

On how the APC intends to increase its political presence in Anambra, Ibezi revealed that plans are in motion to fund new party offices in all the 21 local government areas and 326 wards across the state. He also noted that Sir Paul Chukwuma had already donated a new state office to the party which is strategically located opposite the Anambra State Government House in Awka. “This symbolises his determination to lead the party into Government House,” Ibezi emphasised, pointing out the psychological and spiritual importance of the office’s location.

Addressing the contentious issue of zoning, Ibezi dismissed its relevance within the APC, calling it a construct of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA). “Zoning is not part of the APC’s language. We will give Anambra the best person for the job”, he stated, arguing that it was designed to marginalize other parties in the state.

On the upcoming local government elections in Anambra, Ibezi confirmed that the APC would not participate, citing alleged violations of the Electoral Act. He added that the party had already taken legal action to challenge the election process, and the campaign council stood firmly behind the state leadership’s decision.
