The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in Edo State, Asue Ighodalo, has finally cast his vote after delays in the arrival of electoral materials. Ighodalo voted at Okaigben Ward 1, Unit 3, located at Idinrio Primary School, Okaigben, in Ewohimi, Esan South East Local Government Area.
Earlier reports indicated that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) officials and materials arrived late at various polling units, causing delays in the voting process.
Ighodalo, along with his wife Ifeyiwan, arrived at the polling unit around 10:30 a.m. However, they were not able to vote until approximately 12:03 p.m., after being accredited.

After casting his vote, Ighodalo expressed dissatisfaction with the slow pace of the election process. “The process has been slow, but thankfully, I’ve finally voted,” he said, remaining hopeful for a positive outcome in the election.
He also voiced concerns about the late arrival of materials in certain local government areas, including Owan West. Despite these issues, Ighodalo said, “I have to give them the benefit of the doubt. Although there are rumors of attempts to suppress the PDP stronghold, I will still give them the benefit of the doubt. Since we are starting two hours late, they will need to extend the time for voting.”
Ighodalo also raised concerns about the arrest of some PDP members in Uromi, Esan North East Local Government Area. He specifically mentioned that one of his supporters had been arrested at a polling unit in Uromi, calling attention to the situation as the election continues.
As the voting process progresses, the delays and arrests have drawn attention, but Ighodalo remains optimistic about his chances in the ongoing election.
