    MAKURDI – The National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has approved the Benue State Congress and election of the Executive Committee members of the party that also brought about the emergence of Ezekiel Adaji as State Chairman and other officials that emerged in the process.

    The NWC explained that after due consideration of the reports of the Electoral Committee and the Appeal Panel, it on behalf of the National Executive Committee(NEC) of the PDP, decided to approve the State Congress and the Executive Committee Members who emerged during the congresses.

    Meanwhile, in a related development, in a letter addressed to the Benue State Command of the Nigeria Police, the National Secretary of the PDP, Senator Samuel Anyanwu has appealed to the police to accord the Adaji-led Executive all the necessary support to discharge its duties.

    The letter which was dated 10th October, 2024, and signed by the National Secretary of the party, said, “I write to formally inform the Command of the newly elected State Executive Committee (SEC) of our party in Benue state after the State Congress

    “The Congresses was conducted successfully and monitored by your agency. Therefore, the National Working Committee (NWC), has, on behalf of the National Executive Committee (NEC), after careful consideration of all results and reports, approved the result of the Congress and all elected officers therefrom in line with the Constitution and provisions of the PDP (2017, as amended)

    “These elected officials shall be the Executives of our party in their respective positions in Benue state and shall hold office for 4 years pursuant to Section 47 (1) of our party’s Constitution (2017, as amended)

    “Kindly accord them the recognition and assistance needed to perform their roles according to the Constitution of our party” he stated.

    On the other hand the NWC of the party has also approved the State Congresses and the elected Executive Committee members of the party in the state in the election that was held in Makurdi on 3rd October, 2024.

    In the letter of approval that was earlier addressed to the Benue State Chapter of the PDP and signed by the party’s National Organizing Secretary, Umar Bature, expressed optimism in the capacity of the new party officials to steer the affairs of the party to future successes.

    According to him, “Following the successful conduct of the State Congress of our party in Benue State on Thursday October 03, 2024, for the purpose of electing new State Executive Committee members, the NWC of our great party, the PDP, after giving careful consideration to the reports of the Electoral Committee and the Appeal Panel, has, on behalf of the National Executive Committee(NEC) of the Party, approved the State Congress and the Executive Committee Members who emerged therefrom.

    “Accordingly, I hereby forward to you the authentic list of the newly elected State Executives for Benue State as attached herein.

    “These shall be the new State Exco Members in Benue State and shall hold office for a period of four (4) years pursuant to Section 47(1) of our Party’s Constitution, 2017 as amended”, he stated.

    Also attached to the letter was the list of the approved newly elected officials of the PDP in the state that was approved by the national secretariat of the party. End.
