Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s (LP) nominee for president in 2023, has once again expressed his opinions against the current administration, headed by President Bola Tinubu, eliminating fuel subsidies.
He underlined how important it is for public officials to be transparent. The LP mainstay discussed his misgivings in a News Central interview.
Even when the subsidies were eliminated, he claimed, the nation’s debt kept growing in tandem with the cost of living.
He spoke further in favor of maintaining Nigeria’s democracy, highlighting the significance of biometric systems and calling for closer examination of the country’s borrowing and spending.

In order to further the country’s growth, the former governor of Anambra emphasized the necessity of giving priority to issues that need immediate attention.
In reference to Rabiu Kwankwaso, the 2023 New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) presidential candidate, who recently voiced confidence in winning the 2027 election, Obi said that his attention is on the challenges that Nigerians are facing right now rather than on upcoming elections. He stated unequivocally that he is not running for president.
Obi reiterated the right of citizens to peaceful protest while addressing the prosecution of #EndBadGovernance demonstrators.
He recommended that instead of using punitive actions, the federal government have a conversation with protestors.
