LAGOS – The Plateau State House of Assembly has approved N5.8 billion for the upcoming local government elections set for October 9, 2024.
Following a request by Governor Caleb Mutfwang, presented by Speaker Gabriel Dewan, the Plateau State House of Assembly granted the approval on Thursday, noting the lack of budget allocation for the 2024 elections.
After initially requesting N5.7 billion as a supplementary budget for 2024, Governor Mutfwang later saw the legislators raise the amount to N5.8 billion following a comprehensive review.

House leader Joseph Bukar stressed the importance of the approval, pointing out PLASIEC’s time constraints in getting ready for the elections.
The approval process included an increase in security allocation, legislative input from Hon. Kalamu Dal and Hon. Daniel Nanbol, and the crucial role of PLASIEC in conducting credible local government elections.
This approval allows PLASIEC to proceed with election preparations for October 9, ensuring a transparent and fair electoral process.
