Police nab 89 notorious criminals in Kano

The Kano State Police Command, on Monday, said it had recorded remarkable successes in its efforts to ensure public safety and prevent crimes.
The Kano State Commissioner of Police, Salman Dogo Garba, made this known during a press conference held at the Command’s Bompal Police Headquarters on Monday.
Represented by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Abdullahi Kiyawa, the police boss said the command successfully arrested 89 notorious criminals, including 15 armed robbery suspects, 10 suspected drug dealers, and one human trafficking suspect.
Also, Kiyawa disclosed that the police were able to rescue two human trafficking and two kidnapping victims.
Also, Abdullahi Kiyawa disclosed that the Kano Police Command were able to recover Illicit drugs, dangerous weapons, and stolen properties, including 538 bottles of Bacardi Syrup and a large quantity of dried leaves, suspected to be Indian hemp.
Kiyawa noted that the command’s strategic decision to embark on robust community engagements, intelligence-led operations and round-the-clock visibility patrols has yielded positive results, with 43 suspects charged to court and 46 others undergoing investigation.
Kiyawa stressed that the command recognised the importance of community engagement and partnership in maintaining peace and security.
“We’ve been engaging with stakeholders, including media outlets, to sensitise the public on security tips and appreciate the cooperation and support of the Kano State Government, other security agencies, and law-abiding residents.”
He noted that the command has concluded arrangements to provide adequate security during and after the Independence Day Celebration on October 1, 2024.
Residents were urged to cooperate with the Police and other security agencies, participate responsibly in the independence celebrations, as well as respect others’ rights.
The police boss also commiserated with the families of the five police officers who lost their lives in a tragic motor accident on September 23, 2024, and appreciated the prayers and support extended to the bereaved families and the injured victims.
