Police rescue abducted wife of AIG Odumosu, kill kidnappers

The Nigeria Police Force said the wife of retired Assistant Inspector, General of Police, AIG Hakeem Odumosu who was abducted in Arepo area of Ogun State about a week ago has been rescued.
The spokesperson of Nigeria Police, Olumuyiwa Adejobi announced this in a short statement on his Twitter handle on Thursday morning. He said the police operatives also killed the kidnappers of Mrs Odumosu and recovered ransom which was used as bait to get them.
Adejobi, who did not give more details on how Mrs Odumosu was rescued said the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun has commended the police operatives and CP Ogun State, Lanre Ogunlowo, for the feat.
He added that the Nigeria Police Force is committed to safeguarding Nigerian citizens and our dear country.
Ogun Police Command had in a statement on 17 January confirmed abduction Mrs Odumosu in a statement by its spokesperson, CSP Omolola Odutola issued in Abeokuta.
Odutola said Mrs Odumosu was abducted from her residence at Aminu Street, Orange Estate, Arepo, Obafemi Owode Local Government Area, was kidnapped at about 9.55 p.m. on Thursday while entering her home.

She explained that four masked men attacked and dragged her out of her Lexus Sports Utility Vehicle, taking her through a swampy area to an unknown location.
“The Divisional Police Officer (DPO), Warewa Division, has led policemen to the scene where they are currently searching the swampy bush area,” she said.
According to the spokesperson, the DPO had also contacted the Warewa and Maaba community heads to deploy local security forces to the riverine area.
Odutola said the state Commissioner of Police, Lanre Ogunlowo, had been briefed and that all operations had been deployed to assist with digital intelligence to ensure the victim’s rescue.
