Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) manager Luis Enrique has expressed his regret over Kylian Mbappe’s transfer to Real Madrid, calling it “a pity” for the French club.
Mbappe’s long-anticipated move to the Spanish giants was finalized this summer after he allowed his contract with PSG to expire, making him a free agent.
Enrique, who had a somewhat mixed relationship with Mbappe during his time at PSG, occasionally chose to bench the forward. However, in a recent Movistar documentary, Enrique praised Mbappe both as an outstanding player and as an exceptional individual. He described Mbappe as a kind, affectionate, and approachable person, qualities that Enrique found rare in footballers of Mbappe’s caliber.

The former Barcelona coach acknowledged the disappointment of losing such a talented player to Real Madrid but wished Mbappe success in his new chapter.
“In Kylian’s case, I met a remarkable player,” Enrique said. “He is also an exceptional human being—warm, affectionate, and down-to-earth. What a pity he went to Madrid, especially for us. But life and football are full of changes, and I hope everything goes well for him at Madrid.”
Mbappe’s transfer to Real Madrid brings an end to years of speculation about his future and marks a significant loss for PSG, as they part ways with one of their top talents.
