Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) manager, Luis Enrique, expressed his sadness following his team’s 2-0 loss to Arsenal in the Champions League match held on Tuesday night, October 1, 2024.
Arsenal secured the victory at the Emirates Stadium with first-half goals from Kai Havertz and Bukayo Saka.
In a post-match interview with Amazon Prime, Enrique admitted his disappointment, highlighting that PSG struggled to compete with Arsenal’s intensity and lost key battles on the field.
“My feeling is that I am sad,” Enrique stated. “We couldn’t match their level of play, and they deserved to win the match.”

He further acknowledged Arsenal’s strong defense after taking the lead, saying, “They scored two goals and defended strongly, earning their victory.”
Enrique praised Arsenal’s overall performance, noting, “They are a top team, both on and off the ball, and we knew the level they would bring.”
Commenting on PSG’s difficulties in the match, especially conceding the second goal from a free kick, Enrique added, “That’s part of football. We lost almost every duel, and when you face a team like Arsenal, who apply such intense pressure, you will suffer. Now, we’ll focus on our next match and work to improve.”
Despite the setback, PSG will look to regroup as they prepare for their upcoming fixtures.
