Benin: As the nation still basks in the euphoria of the celebration of her 64th anniversary, a member, of Edo State Youth Parliament representing Esan Central Constituency, Hon. Ogbidi Peace Ofure Rhema, called on the Nigerian youths to recommit themselves to the ideals of progress, unity and excellence to build a viable country.
He made the call on his Independence Day celebration felicitations with the Nigerian youths in Benin
Rhema said the country, over the years has confronted so many obstacles and has overcome them, adding that it is not yet Uhuru as they must keep their eyes on the ball.
“On this Independence Day, I urge all Nigerians, especially the youth, to recommit themselves to the ideals of progress, unity, and excellence. Let us be the generation that propels Nigeria to greater heights.
“A Nigeria where the wealth of our land is shared equitably, where justice prevails, and where the potential of every citizen is realized.
“We have come a long way since 1960, but our journey is far from over. The responsibility to build a brighter, more prosperous Nigeria rests with each of us.
“Together, let us continue the work of our heroes past by striving every day to create the Nigeria we dream of.
“May we never lose sight of our collective mission. May we always believe in the promise of our great nation. And may God continue to bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria”, Rhema said.
He added that in a rapidly changing world, the youths must embrace innovation and technology to remain relevant on the global stage.
He reiterated that Nigerian youths are already making waves in technology, arts, sports, and entrepreneurship and that they must continue to push these boundaries, challenging themselves to redefine the global narrative of Nigeria from one of struggle to one of success.
The member of the Youth Parliament pointed out that while the youths have their own roles to play in building a viable country, the government, private sector, and community leaders must create an enabling environment where the dreams of young Nigerians can flourish—where talent meets opportunity, and where hard work is rewarded with progress.

According to him “October 1st is more than a date; it’s a reminder of the sacrifices made by our forebears, the hopes they held, and the aspirations they fought for in the face of adversity.
“As we reflect on this day, let us recognize that the future of Nigeria lies in the hands of her youth—the driving force behind every great nation.
“You, the vibrant young people of Nigeria, represent the heartbeat of our country. Your energy, innovation, and determination have the power to chart the course of our future.
“A Call to Responsibility and Purpose
“Our nation faces many challenges today—economic struggles, social inequality, and security concerns but amidst these challenges lies great opportunity. It is important to remember that independence is not just a milestone of the past; it is a continuous journey of growth, responsibility, and progress.
“Now, more than ever, Nigeria needs the resilience and resourcefulness of her citizens. The youth must rise to the occasion, embracing responsible leadership and active citizenship.
“It is through education, skill-building, entrepreneurship, and innovation that we will break the barriers that have held us back and build a prosperous, inclusive, and just society.
“The Power of Unity and Diversity*
“Our strength lies in our diversity. As a nation of over 250 ethnic groups and rich cultures, Nigeria is a mosaic of talents, beliefs, and potential. But with diversity comes the need for understanding, tolerance, and unity.
“It is time to put aside our differences and work towards the common good—towards a Nigeria where every citizen has the opportunity to thrive regardless of their background or location.
“The spirit of “One Nigeria” is not just a slogan, but a call to action. We must stand together, shoulder to shoulder, in building a future that reflects our shared dreams and aspirations”.
