Former Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp has been appointed Global Head of Soccer at Red Bull, marking the beginning of a new chapter in his football career.

The 57-year-old German tactician will officially assume the role on January 1, 2025.

Speaking about his new role, Klopp said, “After nearly 25 years on the sidelines, I couldn’t be more thrilled to take on a project like this. While the role may be different, my passion for football and for the people who make the game what it is remains as strong as ever.”

Red Bull, the energy drink giant, owns several football clubs, including RB Leipzig in Germany, Red Bull Salzburg in Austria, New York Red Bulls in the U.S., and Red Bull Bragantino in Brazil.

Earlier this year, the company also acquired a minority stake in Leeds United and became the club’s front-of-shirt sponsor.

Although Klopp will not be involved in day-to-day operations, Red Bull revealed that he will play a key advisory role, helping to shape the playing philosophy, transfer strategy, and coaching development across its football teams.

“Jürgen Klopp is one of the most influential figures in world football, with exceptional leadership and charisma,” said Oliver Mintzlaff, CEO of Corporate Projects and Investments at Red Bull.

“As Head of Soccer, he will have a transformative impact on our global football ambitions and its continued development.”

Klopp enjoyed a highly successful managerial career, winning eight trophies during his nine seasons at Liverpool, including the Premier League and Champions League.

Before his tenure at Liverpool, Klopp managed Mainz and Borussia Dortmund, where he secured two Bundesliga titles and reached the 2013 Champions League final.

After stepping down from Liverpool at the end of last season, Klopp now takes on this new challenge, extending his legacy beyond the sidelines. A formal press conference to announce his appointment will be held in mid-January.

In addition to football, Red Bull has invested heavily in other sports, including ice hockey, extreme sports, and Formula 1, where Red Bull Racing currently leads both the drivers’ and constructors’ championships.
