    The new President of Real Estate Developers Association of Nigeria (REDAN), Akintoye Adeoye, has said that the association is planning to advocate policies that will promote mass housing in the country.

    Adeoye, who spoke ahead of his investiture scheduled for Thursday in Lagos, also promised to institutionalise the association by sponsoring a law to back its existence, implementing self-regulatory measures that would to promote discipline and professionalism, as well as advance access to housing for all citizens.

    He also promised that REDAN would safeguard the interest of its members by providing comprehensive support, including legal assistance, capacity building, networking opportunities, and quality assurance measures to uphold industry integrity and consumers’ interest.

    Adeoye, who had since his election actively pursued collaboration with government officials and agencies, including the Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Ahmed Dangiwa; Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria (FMBN) and the Family Homes Funds (FHF), extended hands of fellowship to key stakeholders, including civil society organisations, such as the Housing Development Advocacy Network (HDAN), within the housing and construction sector.

    The investiture will be chaired by Dangiwa, with Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, as chief host and Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State as Special Guest.

    Director-General of Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), Dr Agama Emomotimi and Founding Partner at Kenna Partners, Prof Fabian Ajogwu, will deliver the keynote addresses.

    However, traditional rulers expected at the event include Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, who doubles as the association’s grand patron, and Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Housing and Habitat, Aminu Balele.
