Fast rising Afro Soul –beat music star, Boypee has described the remix of his song Ogechi where he featured the iconic star Davido as the most defining moment of his career.
The Imo state born Boypee whose real name is Sopuru Precious is fast becoming a defining voice in the realm of Afro soul-beat music.
Speaking recently in a chat with The Sun, Boypee revealed that the connection to Davido came through popular Nigerian socialite Cubana Chief Priest, whom he described as someone who has been a significant supporter and influencer in musical journey.
He recalled that Chief Priest’s belief in his talent and his introduction to Davido opened new doors for him, showcasing his growing influence and the industry’s recognition of his potential.
Boypee also disclosed that the musical collaboration that shook the scene for him was his collaboration on the hit song “Constantly” with Brown Joel and Hyce.
He was drawn to Brown Joel and Hyce due to their innovative sound and the seamless way they blend musical elements. His collaboration with them is a testament to his ability to connect with and harness the talents of other artists to create something truly special said his manager Odinaka Onu.

He described his musical odyssey as a Journey from Dance Floors to Stardom .Boypee’s musical journey began long before he stepped into the spotlight. Back in 2010, while still in high school, he started as a dancer and vocalist but it was clear from the beginning that music was his true calling.
Reflecting on his early days, Boypee recalls, “I knew I was going to sing someday. I played songs often and always told myself that I would create my own sound.” he said.
His transition from dance to music was seamless, and since 2015 when he embarked on a professional career. His early experiences laid the groundwork for his unique style, characterized by an immersive blend of African soul and contemporary beats.
On his Influences and Inspirations, he noted that his musical influences are as diverse as his sound.
Locally, he looks up to Cubana Chief Priest, Davido, and Tekno. Internationally, artists who blend innovation with accessibility inspire him. Davido’s global appeal and Tekno’s unique sound are particularly influential in shaping Boypee’s artistic direction. Boypee admires their ability to connect with audiences worldwide and strives to achieve a similar impact through his own music.
On his future, growth and inspiration, Boypee said that looking ahead, he envisions his music evolving as he continues to grow as an artist. He’s excited about exploring new sounds while staying true to his roots. His goal is to create music that resonates deeply with listeners and leaves a lasting impression.
“I’m constantly evolving, and I believe my music will reflect that growth,” Boypee says. His focus remains on authenticity and artistic evolution, which he believes will ensure his relevance in the ever-changing music landscape.
