In a heartfelt appeal, Hon. Obi Aguocha, the distinguished representative of Ikwuano, Umuahia North, and Umuahia South Federal Constituency, has called on the minority caucus of the 10th House of Representatives to take a decisive stance on the release of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu. During his address, Hon. Aguocha urged his colleagues to explore a political solution to this pressing issue.

The minority caucus comprising of 180 members in the green chamber unanimously adopted Hon. Obi Aguocha’s call for the release of Nnamdi Kanu.

The members from several political parties, includes, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) with 115 seats, the Labour Party (LP) with 35 seats, the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) with 19 seats, the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) with 5 seats, the Social Democratic Party (SDP) with 2 seats, the Young Progressives Party (YPP) with 2 seats, and the African Democratic Congress (ADC) with 2 seats.
Hon. Aguocha emphasized the necessity of a united front within the minority caucus. He highlighted the importance of resolving Mazi Nnamdi Kanu’s case for national peace, stability, and unity. He called for immediate and strategic engagement with relevant stakeholders to advocate for a peaceful and political resolution to the matter, which has far-reaching implications for Nigeria’s socio-political landscape.
“The resolution of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu’s case is crucial for national peace, stability, and unity,” Hon. Aguocha stated. “We must address this situation through dialogue and reconciliation rather than prolonged legal confrontations. The opposition parties have recently taken a firm stand on several critical issues, including Mazi Nnamdi Kanu’s case, planned protests, insecurity, dilapidated infrastructure, and the economy. The adoption of the position on Mazi Nnamdi Kanu by the influential caucus follows Hon. Aguocha’s recent visits to former President Muhammadu Buhari, his successful mobilization of 50 colleagues across all parties, and the southeast caucus of the National Assembly. The Southeast Governors Forum has also joined in the call for Mazi Nnamdi Kanu’s release.
