Moisés Caicedo has informed Liverpool that he only wants to join Chelsea.
Football journalist Fabrizio Romano reported that Caicedo revealed his intentions after Liverpool had agreed with Brighton and Hove Albion to sign him for a British record £110m ($140m).
Liverpool coach Klopp also confirmed the agreement with Brighton.
However, Romano stated that Caicedo will not travel to Liverpool in the next hours for medicals.
Chelsea are now expected to bid again very soon.
Liverpool must now act fast to get another defensive midfielder after Fabinho departed to Al Ittihad.
Chelsea have pursued Caicedo all summer after seeing Mason Mount, Mateo Kovacic, N’Golo Kante and Ruben Loftus-Cheek all leave the club. They are also interested in Southampton’s Romeo Lavia, who is also on Liverpool’s radar, and Tyler Adams of Leeds United.
