Grammy award-winning music producer Chisom Ezeh, popularly known as Rexxie, has expressed excitement at being featured on the MTV Base reality show Inside Life: The New Wave.

Rexxie appears on the show, which started airing on Saturday, November 18, 2023, alongside singers, Liya and Eltee Skhillz.

Sharing his experience filming the show, the beat maker in an interview with PM News, said that the opportunity came at the right time because it is something he has always wanted to do.

“I had always wanted to try having a reality show centered on my lifestyle. There are people I don’t show that side of me.

“Producers are always in the background. But for a long time, I have always tried to make my efforts to put myself out there. I grant interviews and create contents. The platform of this reality show on MTV Base is a wonderful plus.”

Rexxie added that fans would learn new things about him from watching the show. He noted that producers had processes that guide their works.

Pleased that producers now understood their craft and business more, Rexxie said, “These days, producers are more educated. They know how to get songs on and off streaming platforms. Some producers also now know that they have to help themselves, and not depend on any artiste. My advice is that everybody should understand the business and sign the best deals. However, it is also important to have a good relationship with the artistes one is working with. If one demands too much from them, they won’t return to one.”

Though many producers were transitioning to singers, Rexie admitted that he wasn’t sure if he had the confidence to sing.

Recalling how his parents supported his career early on, he said, “My family played a major role in developing my career.

“My parents are pastors. So, I was exposed to music at an early age. At a point, my mother asked me what she could to support my career, and I told her to buy me a soundcard (used in music production). That was the starting point for me. Also, my father was always praying for me and checking up on me,” he stated.
