    Rivers: 122 youths arrested over attack on Speaker’s residence granted bail

    Police dock 122 youths over alleged attack on the residence of the faction Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly.

    The 122 youths who were arraigned in Court on Wednesday in Port Harcourt over violent attack on the residence of Rivers House of Assembly Speaker have been granted bail.

    The 122 youths were led during the protest by Chijioke Ihunwo, the Chairman of Rivers chapter of National Youth Council of Nigeria.

    Police accused the youths of forcefully gaining entrance into the residence of the Speaker and destroying the gate during their protest.

    The youths were protesting over alleged plan to impeach Governor Sim Fubara.

    The youths were granted bail after they pleaded not guilty to five-count charge filed against them by the police.

    However, the Magistrate Court imposed bail condition of N100,000 on each of them.

    They also to jointly provide 20 sureties before they will be released.

    The case has been adjourned to December 5, 2023.
