The National Working Committee (NWC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has extended the tenure of the party’s Rivers State Caretaker Committee for another six months.
A statement by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, yesterday, said that the decision was reached at its 151st meeting held yesterday at the National Secretariat in Abuja.
The statement said: “The membership of the Caretaker Committee remains as originally constituted: Tony C. Okocha, Chairman; Eric Nwibani, Secretary; Chibuike Ikenga, Prince Stephen Abolo, Silvester Vidin, Senibo Karibi Dan-Jumbo and Darling Amadi.”
Members of the political camp of the Minister for Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, have been celebrating following the development.
Okocha, the current Rivers State representative in the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), was allegedly nominated for the position by Wike, who is still claiming to be a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). Wike was also instrumental to Okocha’s appointment as the Rivers State representative in the NDDC.
Recall that amid controversies on November 23, 2023, the APC NWC dissolved the Rivers State Executives of the party at all levels.
