    PORTHARCOURT – One of the newly constituted councillors in Rivers State, representing Ward 4, Khana Legislative Council, Ndiika Benson has lost his father, Mr Benson Ndoone to the violent crisis that rocked the state on Monday.

    Ndoone, who is a security staff at Kenule Beeson Saro-Wiwa Polytechnic in Bori, Khana LGA, was reportedly killed when suspected opposition political thugs protesting the outcome of the local council elections, stormed the Rector’s Lodge in an attempt to destabilise the swearing-in of the councillors.

    The Rector’s Lodge houses the secretariat of the outgone Caretaker Committee led by Marvin Yobana.

    Our correspondent learnt that the deceased, who hails from Zor-Sogho community in the LGA, also doubled as a member of the Community’s Development Committee (CDC), before his death.
