….Female student hacked to death in Eruwa

Suspected armed robbers have killed a middle-aged man, Makanjuola Ogedengbe, and raped his two daughters, aged 10 and 14, at Apaatuku/Onireke village, Akobo in Lagelu Local Government Area of Oyo State.
The robbers were purportedly invited for the operation in the community by one of the landlords in the area, identified as Adebayo Salami.
The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Adewale Osifeso, confirmed the arrest of some suspects. He added that the robbery took place on Sunday May 14, 2023 around 4am. The suspected robbers reportedly dispossessed some residents of the community of their valuables, and shot the deceased at close range.
“On the14th May, 2023 at about 0400hrs a group of armed robbers invaded Apaatuku/Onireke at Akobo area in Ibadan and robbed residents of their valuables. The assailants killed one Makanjuola Ogedengbe and raped his two daughters aged, 14 and 10, respectively during the incident.
“The case was transferred to SCID (State Criminal Investigation Department), Iyaganku, for discreet investigation.
During investigation, it was revealed that one Ibrahim Rasaq ‘m’ 31yrs, one Abiodun Olalekan ‘m’ 32yrs, and one Abolade Morenikeji ‘m’ 34yrs, who were earlier arrested in connection with the armed robbery operation at Sawia Estate at Ogbere in Ibadan, which was reported on 16 April 2023, were the same gang who invaded Apaatuku/Onireke community.
“The two daughters of the deceased were allegedly raped by Abolade Morenikeji ‘m’ and one Sodiq ‘m’ respectively. The said Sodiq, who was the group’s alleged leader, was killed in the operation by the community security guards. The assailants also shot at the community’s night guard who is currently receiving treatment.
“On 16/6/2023 at about 03300hrs, one Adebayo Salami ‘m’ who is a major receiver/informant of the group and landlord at Ajara Olohunda, Akobo in Ibadan was arrested in connection with the case. During interrogation, he confessed to have invited the group for the robbery operation at the Apatuku area where one Makanjuola Ogedengbe ‘m’ was killed and his two daughters ages 14 and 10 were defiled by the robbery gang during the operation.”
Besides, a National Diploma Two (NDII) student of Mass Communication, Adeseun Ogundoyin Polytechnic, Eruwa, in Ibarapa East Local Government Area of the state, identified as Dasola, has been hacked to death in her room on Wednesday, this week. Dasola’s lifeless body was found in her room on Thursday at Ile Idibo area, Eruwa. Machete cuts were found on her body, and her two eyes were also plucked and taken away.
She was among the students writing the ongoing first semester examination in the institution, owned by the Oyo State Government. One of her course mates, who did not see her around to sit for a particular paper in examination, reportedly went to her house to know what happened to her. On getting there, it was discovered that her door was locked from outside, which ordinarily suggested that she was not at home.
But her dead body was discovered when an offensive odour was perceived from her room. As gathered, her neighbours peeped through her window to found her body lying lifeless. They raised the alarm. Thereafter, many neighbours gathered, forced the door to her room opened, sympathised, informed management of the school, and the police, before taking her lifeless body to the morgue of General Hospital, Eruwa. The management of the institution reportedly suspended the ongoing examination for a day as a sign of respect for the deceased.
The personnel of Eruwa Divisional Police Headquarters, sources said, have launched investigation into the incident, with a view to unravelling the circumstances surrounding Dasola’s death. Already, the police have quizzed two among the housemates of the deceased in connection with the death.
