No Fewer than 600 residents of Irawo, Owode, Ajegunle and Ikorodu Road, recently, benefitted from the three-day health week organised by Rotary Club of Onigbongbo in collaboration with Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, under the leadership of its President, Babatunde Razaq Salau.

According to Salau, the three-day health screening was carried out on several ailments, including  blood sugar, high blood pressure, malaria and eye check.  It also featured the scaling and polishing of teeth. Persons were given drugs for their ailments.

He added that 150 mosquito nets and eye glasses were given out, while 600 sanitary pads were also given to teenagers.

He noted that  people with low sugar were counselled on the life style they should adopt.

“There were about five cases of referrals and the exercise cost us over N900,000.00

“It is worthy of note that the area of our coverage is also the location that the club is building primary health centre,” he said.

Salau also remarked that the yearly programme afforded the club a forum to give health tips to the residents. He disclosed that the exercise, which could be described as very successful judging by the large turnout of beneficiaries, was held twice this Rotary year.

He advised people to always take advantage of the free programme to know their health status, adding that “it is being held to support the government.”
