The President of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), Dr Ike Neliaku, has said that as reputation and perception builders, the institute has set up a technical committee of experts to study the controversial Samoa Agreement.

Speaking yesterday in Abuja during the special diamond anniversary induction for the media industry, he said the team would come up with the reputation and perception implications of signing the agreement for Nigeria and its citizens.

He said the important things to be studied were the professional value benefits of the Samoa Agreement to Nigerians, as well as the reputational value and the financial benefits.

Neliaku said after the committee was done with the study of the agreement, the institute would then be able to speak on the agreement and advise the federal government on the reputational implications of the agreement to Nigeria.

He noted that the recommendation would form the decision if the nation should re-navigate or navigate.

On his part, a former Minister of Information, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, shared with the newly inducted members of the institute that they should expect challenges while discharging their duties as they were expected to clean up the mess of their organisation.

He called on them to accept criticism by the public and make amends to ensure their organisation remained in good light.

Speaking at the event, the Wazirin Katsina, Sen Ibrahim Ida, urged the newly inducted members not to use their work to fuel crises in the country. He urged them to remain objective and truthful so that they would not destroy Nigeria.
