Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, emerged as the Chairman of the South West Governors Forum on Monday.
The governor, who read the communiqué after a meeting behind closed doors at the Lagos House, Ikeja, was unanimously nominated by his colleagues.
The governor said the forum deliberated extensively on several matters, noting that the governors also paid their last respects to the late Ondo State Governor, Rotimi Akeredolu, and congratulated the new governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa.
He said the forum restated its call for state police and pledged support for the Federal Government regarding the deliberation of the minimum wage tripartite committee.
Sanwo-Olu said the forum commended the Federal Government on the flag-off of the construction of the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway and other initiatives, calling for the rehabilitation of federal roads across the South West states.
He said the forum adopted an anthem, “Ise Wa Fun Ile Wa,” for the South West states, condemning the group agitating for a Yoruba nation.
Present at the meeting were Governors Babajide Sanwo-Olu (Lagos), Lucky Aiyedatiwa (Ondo), Dapo Abiodun (Ogun), Seyi Makinde (Oyo), Ademola Adeleke (Osun), and Biodun Oyebanji (Ekiti).
