The Project LOUD Sanwo-Olu ICT and Skill Acquisition Centre has announced plans for the sixth edition of its intensive training programme aimed at equipping 3,000 Lagos residents with essential vocational and ICT skills.

In a statement, the programme’s coordinator, Prince Kenny Bakare, confirmed that all arrangements have been finalised for the two-month, all-expenses-paid training.

He emphasised that the initiative aligned with Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s vision of creating a Lagos where every resident is empowered with the skills and confidence needed to thrive in today’s economy.

Bakare highlighted the programme’s success in 2024, which saw over 1,500 participants graduate, saying this year, the initiative seeks to double its impact by training 3,000 beneficiaries.

He said participants will gain expertise in various trades, including tailoring, shoemaking, tie and dye, digital marketing, and photography, which are compulsory for all trainees, while other courses available include catering, baking, facials and massage, wig making, microblading, lash extension, makeup, and gele tying.

According to Bakare, the training is fully sponsored by the Lagos State Government, ensuring it remains free for all participants.

Graduates will be awarded certificates and provided with relevant work tools to kick-start their careers. Additionally, they will have access to low-interest loans through the Lagos State Employment Trust Fund, further supporting their entrepreneurial journey.

Bakare expressed confidence in the programme’s potential to combat unemployment and poverty by fostering self-reliance among participants.

He noted that the seed money and tools provided to trainees would enable them to start their businesses immediately upon graduation, empowering them to thrive without waiting for employment opportunities.

The induction and graduation ceremony is scheduled for 29 January 2025. Physical registration and screening for pre-registered participants will take place on 15 and 16 January 2025 at 114 Western Avenue, Beside Qua Iboe Church, Barracks Under Bridge, Surulere, Lagos.

Bakare encouraged Lagosians, particularly the youth, to seize this opportunity to unlock their potential, acquire in-demand skills, and contribute to the state’s economic growth.

He reiterated the programme’s commitment to transforming lives and creating a better future for residents across Lagos.
