Senate grills seven new Ministerial nominees

The Nigerian Senate has begun the screening of seven newly nominated ministers, paving the way for President Bola Tinubu’s cabinet reshuffle.
The nominees Dr. Nentawe Yilwatda (Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction), Muhammadu Dingyadi (Minister of Labour and Employment), Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu (Minister of State, Foreign Affairs), Dr. Jumoke Oduwole (Minister of Industry, Trade and Development), Idi Muktar Maiha (Minister of Livestock Development), Rt. Hon. Yusuf Ata (Minister of State, Housing) and Dr. Suwaiba Said Ahmad (Minister of State, Education)
The screening process began on Wednesday, following a motion moved by Senate Leader Opeyemi Bamidele.
The Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, had earlier read the nomination letter from President Bola Tinubu.

President Tinubu had last week sacked five ministers, paving way for the nomination of seven others.
Those fired were Uju-Ken Ohanenye (Minister of Women Affairs), Lola Ade-John (Minister of Tourism), Prof. Tahir Mamman (Minister of Education), Abdullahi Muhammad Gwarzo (Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development) and Dr. Jamila Bio Ibrahim (Minister of Youth Development)
The Senate’s screening process is expected to scrutinize the nominees’ credentials and suitability for their respective roles.
