    Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress(APC) and  senator representing Ekiti Central Senatorial District in the National Assembly, Michael Opeyemi Bamidele has promised  huge support for the development of sports in the grassroots. 

    Speaking at the opening ceremony of the second edition of the MOB UNITY CUP in Ekiti Central Senatorial District,Senator Bamidele who doubles as the Senate Leader said he was committed to changing the face of sports in Ekiti State by giving priority attention to grassroots sports development.

    Represented by one of his legislative aides Mr. Gbenga Banji , the Senate Leader said it is high time individuals came to support government in developing sports.

    While describing sports as one of the most lucrative ventures all over the world, the senator noted that it is time for Ekiti State to take its rightful place in the world of sports.

    The chairman media committee of the championship Mr Toyin Ayoola,in a statement  said senator Opeyemi Bamidele promised to support Governor Biodun Oyebanji of Ekiti State in his quest to transform sports development in the state.

    It is on record that Senator Michael Opeyemi Bamidele is presently constructing six standard stadia across Ekiti Central Senatorial District.

    Meanwhile Harmony football club has won the opening match of this year’s MOB UNITY CUP competition.

    In a tension soaked encounter played at the Christ School playing ground in Ado Ekiti, the young enterprising team came from 1-2 down to level scores at the dot of regulation time and went ahead to win the match 7-6 against Eleven Lions also of Ado Ekiti.

    Preliminary matches are now going on in all the five local government councils in the Senatorial District. The local government councils in the Senatorial District are, Ado, Irepodun Ifelodun, Ekiti West, Efon and Ijero.
