In a significant breakthrough, the Nigerian Police Force has arrested a suspect found in possession of more than 3,700 rounds of 7.62mm live ammunition.
The arrest was made public by Muyiwa Adejobi, the Force Public Relations Officer, via his social media handle, where he urged citizens to take responsibility in exposing criminal activities in their communities.
Adejobi, expressing concern over the dangerous cache of ammunition, highlighted the importance of community cooperation in identifying and reporting criminal elements.
“We have the civic responsibility of exposing the evil doers around us. How can someone be in possession of more than 3,700 7.62mm live ammunition?” he wrote.
According to the statement, the suspect and his accomplices have been apprehended and are now in police custody.

Adejobi confirmed that the suspect would be paraded before the media soon, allowing the public to hear his account of events.
He further emphasised the importance of learning from such criminal activities to prevent their recurrence.
“We need to learn from the wrongdoings and crimes of some of these people so that we can be guided,” he added.
This arrest is part of ongoing efforts by law enforcement agencies to crack down on illegal arms circulation, a critical issue contributing to violence and insecurity across Nigeria.
Further details of the investigation are expected to be revealed when the suspect is formally presented to the public.
